As Mayor of Spencerport, NY, USA, I am pleased to have the opportunity to share information about Spencerport, it's history, people and outlook for the future. We are a community of Grass Root Americans who take pride in our country and community and celebrate our neighbors and friends, who care for and about each other, and their Village.

Once a busy port on the Historic Erie Canal, the Spencerport Community has been busy since the mid 90's in the revitalization of the Canal and our Village. (see History) Our Clyde Carter Memorial Gazebo, brings our community together on warm Summer Sunday evenings for concerts. Our Trolley Museum and Visitor's Center welcomes boaters, bicyclers, hikers and other visitors from around the world as they travel the Canal System. Both of these attractive Village Centers were made possible by Village volunteers. Check out the Lester Merz Park and Pavilion on our North East Canal Bank and you will be sure to see some happy friends enjoying their lunch or engaging in good conversation. Spring finds photographers taking many pictures as the Magnolias, Tulips and Forsythia are a site to behold. This beautiful Park was made possible with a bequest from former Mayor Lester Merz.
We are a Village that enjoys summer and winter events such as our Firemen's Parade and Carnival, held the third weekend in June, Canal Day Celebration in July and Christmas on the Canal in December. Summer just would not be summer without a sausage at the Carnival and without the Great Canaligator Race during Canal Days. For the past two years in August, we have welcomed the German Festival at Firemen's Park on the
Southwest Bank of the Canal. For the past few years, Spencerport has taken a proactive position on Economic Development. With the revitalization efforts of both the Village and the owners of the Spencerport Plaza, Morgan Management, we are now host to Tops Friendly Market, a very welcomed addition to the Community. Their choosing Spencerport, has sparked the interest of others and our Union St. Business area now boasts of 6 new shops with a new Wine and Spirits Shop opening in late October 2010.
My expectations for our Village as we approach the second decade of this century, is to see the economic revitalization continue, our people thrive and enjoy their homes, family and friends, and find that sense of place in Spencerport, Someplace Special!
Enjoy your visit to our web site and I look forward to having you visit usin person soon.
Cordially,
Mayor of Spencerport
